Been a whole lot delinquent in reporting. The fishing in the Grand Harbor/Johns Island area has been slow. One good point is that it looks like the grass is starting to come back. Not the leafy stuff, but the mucky mat grass that the Reds like to hide in.
Last week was an absolute disaster. Blues, Ladies, Jacks and Sharks. Fished a short canal that I had not been in for a while. Must have hit it at the right few minutes as the short Trout and Snook were super active. Also helped to have an audience. Don't know what it is, but when someone is watching I really shine. This week added a whole new species to the list, a big Ribbon fish to the boat, and lost another that was quite a bit smaller. The Trout are starting to pick up. Had a pair in the 16 to 17 inch range, and a pair of shorts. Spotted what looked like a Tarpon rolling in the canal. Got a big boil, but no hook up. For the live baiters, there are plenty of big Sheephead on the flats. Many are free swimming the drops, but if you know where there are sunken logs they are there.
